Erwin Bridge Fishing Access 5-7-23

Back at it again on the Gallatin for the third weekend in a row. This time I hit up Erwin Bridge which is the closest access to Belgrade just down Amsterdam road.

I got there around 10:30 and quickly found a nice spot that was deep and wide open. The good thing about Erwin is most the spots are in wide open areas with no trees or brush to get your line caught on. Even though it was a great fishing spot I got no action there. Im pretty sure its because the water is still very murky from all the run off and it being early in the season.

The first spot

After giving my all with no success at the first spot I headed down river to a familiar spot where I’ve caught fish before. This spot is at the end of the fishing access and is almost like a little pond off the main river. The water seemed exceptionally deep and I didn’t get any snags. Unfortunately this also comes with murky muddy water that is less than ideal for fishing. So after another hour or so i decided to pack it up and went home empty handed.

The second spot

It being so early in the season I’m sure I would’ve caught something at one or both spots if it was a month later. So the lesson here is river fishing is easier later in the summer when the snow has finished melting.
