Axtell Bridge and Sheds Bridge Fishing Access 4-30-23

My second sunday in a row on the Gallatin started at Axtell Bridge fishing access. Its one of the smaller accesses on the Gallatin but has a couple really good spots that are easily accessible. I got there around 10am and there was some people but I was able to fish one of the two good spots.

After a few casts I broke my line and didn’t have any more hooks so I had to cut my time at Axtell short. I headed to the closest store to pick up some tackle then went over to Sheds Bridge access. I got to Sheds Bridge around noon and went to the best spot which is right off of River road about 1/4 mile south of the bridge.

It didn’t take long until I hooked a fish but got my line caught on the log in the picture knocking the fish loose. Not to worry after a couple more casts I hooked a foot long brook trout which I kept. I packed it up about 30 minutes after to get my fish in the freezer. So the day started out rough but overall ended well with my first catch of the season.
